For our fans in the New York/ Connecticut area the date of Nov 21st
is one to note on your calendar. We make our first appearance
at the Beach House Restaurant there on that date, a Saturday.

The Beach House is a fine cuisine restaurant with a jazz entertainment policy. For this debut at the Beach House the band will feature a couple of special musicians.

On trombone and vocals will be

Herb Gardner

Soon after moving to New York in 1963, Herb Gardner began touring with Wild Bill Davison, Kenny Davern and Dick Wellstood as well as becoming a regular at the Metropole, Jimmy Ryan’s and Eddie Condon’s nightclubs. During the ‘60’s and 70’s he appeared with virtually all of the classic jazz musicians in the New York City area such as Roy Eldridge, Gene Krupa, Henry “Red” Allen, Bobby Hackett, Jimmy Rushing, Doc Cheatham, Max Kaminsky and even Wingy Manone. On Clarinet and Tenor is

Russ Whitman

Russ began playing professionally in Chicago in the late 60’s on clarinet and bass sax. There he played with many top name musicians such as Wild Bill Davison, Bobby Hackett, Billy Butterfield and many others. He moved east in the 70’s and worked with Doc Cheatham and Bob Haggart at Eddie Condon’s NY Club. Now a major name in CT, Russ brings the Chicago sound of Bud Freeman on tenor to many local bands and we are delighted to have him join us.

Please check the Beach House Web Site for directions from your starting point and also to see their menus and some pictures of the dining rooms. You'll like what you see!!

Call me, Joe, at 203-426-4185 if you get this in time and are interested.
